Free vintage pattern #1
It’s not a secret that I love working with vintage patterns. I love the multitude of challenges that it presents, time and time again. Aside from the practical experience one gains from the actual knitting process, one can learn a lot from merely reading through the instructions. Techniques and unconventional constructions that one might not find in the current output of knitting patterns. As an effort to make some more obscure (that is, obscure to my English knitting audience) more accessible I’ve decided to have a go at translating them.
This first pattern was published on the 12th of October 1940 in Het Rijk der Vrouw — a Belgian women’s magazine sold both in Belgium and the Netherlands from the 1920s up until the 1990s.
An original Dutch version of this pattern can be found on the Delpher website. If you’d like a PDF version of this pattern, you can find it for free on my Ko-fi page.
Cheers,
Seji
